Counselor Wellness Institute

Wednesday, May 21 & Thursday, May 22, 2014

8:30 am -- 5:00 pm

This institute will increase participants' resilience to Secondary Traumatic Stress as well as maximizing their organizations' trauma resilience, increasing capacity to systematically prevent and respond to the occupational hazard of secondary traumatic stress and its complex effect on clients served, individual service providers and organizational mission.

Who Should Attend?
Counselors, Supervisors, Administrators, Counselor Educators, Students and others for whom Counselor Wellness is a critical topic.

Day1: Developing a Shared Understanding of Secondary Traumatic Stress and its Effects on Individuals and Systems

  • neuroscience of secondary traumatic stress
  • risk and protective factors of secondary traumatic stress
  • effective strategies to mitigate the effects of secondary traumatic stress
  • individual and systemic complications of secondary traumatic stress

Day 2: Developing a Shared Vision of Counselor Wellness

  • models of counselor wellness
  • effective strategies to maintain wellness
  • systemic challenges to counselor wellness
  • development of a comprehensive model to support counselor wellness

Participants are eligible for CEUs from the National Board of Certified Counselors.

To register, you must first "log-in," creating a username and password. In the Special Needs question, please indicate if you are a licensed counselor, site supervisor, counselor educator, AUNE alumni or student. If you have any dietary restrictions, please include it there as well.

This process will accept credit cards for payment, but if you need to pay by check, please selet the billing option. A purchase order # may be entered, but is not required.
